Accept international payments with PayPal
PayPal lets customers outside India pay you online. It appears at checkout as a second online payment option, next to your main payment gateway.
Before you start
- You need a PayPal business account. Sign up at paypal.com.
- PayPal is set up for your store by Shopnix. You can't turn it on yourself in Store Manager.
Turn on PayPal
- Contact Shopnix support and ask to turn on PayPal as your international payment gateway.
- Share the e-mail address of your PayPal account. Payments are sent to this account.
- Agree the rupee to US dollar rate that your store should use.
- Shopnix sets up PayPal and switches it to live mode, so it takes real payments.
What Shopnix sets up
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Gateway name | The name of the international payment option. |
| PayPal e-mail | The PayPal account that receives your payments. |
| INR to USD rate | The rate used to turn your rupee prices into US dollars for PayPal. |
| Live mode | Switches PayPal between test and real payments. |
Example
Your store's prices are in rupees. A customer in the USA buys a ₹4,200 kurta and chooses PayPal. PayPal charges the customer in US dollars, using the rate set for your store.
What happens next
- Customers can choose PayPal at checkout.
- Check each PayPal order's payment status before you ship. See Track and update order payments.
- If your rupee to dollar rate needs to change, contact Shopnix support.
