Invoice numbering and thermal receipts
Choose how your invoice numbers look and which number comes next. Some stores can also print small receipt-style invoices on a thermal printer, or show extra details on the invoice.
Set your invoice numbering
- Go to Store Manager → Setup → Settings.
- Open the Orders tab, then the Invoice sub-tab.
- Set the invoice prefix and the next invoice number (see the table below).
- Save your changes.
Invoice settings
| Setting | What it does | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Invoice prefix | Letters added to the start of every invoice number. By default it is the first 3 letters of your store's domain. | KSR |
| Invoice next no | The number the next invoice will get. Each new invoice counts up from here. | 1001 |
Change the next invoice number with care. If you set it to a number you have already used, two invoices can end up with the same number.
Example
Your store is kesariclothing.com and you are moving from paper bills that ended at number 1000. Set the prefix to KSR and the next number to 1001. Your next online order gets an invoice numbered with the KSR prefix and 1001.
Thermal (receipt) invoices
If you print bills on a thermal receipt printer, Shopnix can show your invoices in a narrow receipt layout. This is available on request. Contact Shopnix support to turn it on.
Extra invoice options
These options are also available on request. Contact Shopnix support to turn them on for your store:
- Show a drug licence number (DL No) on the invoice, for example for pharmacies.
- Show shipping as a separate line on the invoice.
- Hide location fields on the invoice.
Franchise stores
If you run franchise (multi-store) stores, each supplier has its own invoice numbering. See Run franchise stores.
